2004-12-20 ContentGuard obtains 5 Patents on Copy-Prevention Algorithms

ContentGuard, a joint venture owned by Time Warner, Microsoft and others, has further strengthened its portfolio of patents on copy-prevention schemes. The competition authorities at the European Commission have expressed concern about the concentration of basic patents in the hands of this venture. 3 of the 5 patents were granted by the EPO.
