Keith Beresford and Software Patents
Keith Beresford, European Patent Attorney, author of the book "Patenting Software under the European Patent Convention", a manual which teaches the art of circumventing Art 52 EPC by the various means introduced by the European Patent Office, speaker at many political conferences and participant in advisory groups of the UK Patent Office, which has been one of the chief activists in bringing about the drifts of EPO caselaw and in pushing for their codification by new legislation.

- 1970-00-00 Beresford applies for first software patents in the UK (which, contrary to the European continental countries, allowed software patentability back then and continued to do so by adopting its own interpretation of Art 52 EPC)
- As an advisor of the UK patent policy makers, Beresford has been insisting on the necessity of program claims, on the inacceptability of an interoperability privilege etc.
